Everyone participates from tapping of the foot to dancing. We drum together because..Taking part in group music making reaffirms and strengthens the bonds between individuals, and by extension, the bonds to family, community, country and planet. The process of practising and performing music in anenviroment which welcomes every individual’s contributions opens the channels for creative energy to flow freely. As this energy moves it nurtures, heals, and uplifts the participants.
Somesh De Swardt has been playing percussion and leading group music making sessions for over 20 years. He has trained with master percussionists from Africa and around the world including Mamady Keita and Arthur Hull. He is an expert in bringing out the musical abilities in a group through rhythm and voice in a fun and uplifting way. www.someshdeswardt.com
7:30pm - KIRTAN with Sivani Mata & Friends
Join us to share in Kirtan. Singing the profoundly healing sounds of Sanskrit mantra effortlessly drops our awareness out of our busy minds and into our hearts. Kirtan is from the path of Bhakti Yoga (pure love and compassion) and responds to where you are it and what you need in that moment, whether that is to bring you to a space of calm or elation. It can be deeply moving and incredibly joyful.
Sivani Mata is a student of Bhakti Yoga (the yoga of love and devotion). She organised the UK's first ever Bhakti Music Festival (in August 2011) and the Be Love: Bhakti Immersions which brought devotional musical practices from various traditions together as one, in the spirit of universal love and devotion. She leads Kirtan, Shakti Dance, Women's Yoga and Yoga Nidra in London & around the UK. Her practice has been influenced by many teachers and traditions, and she is highly grateful for the people who have inspired her to live in trust and bhakti spirit in all aspects of life. Sivani feels incredibly blessed to have found this divine practice and be able to share it with others. www.naturalmysticbhajans.co.uk
