RE:CONNECT RE:CHARGE RE:TREAT
Yoga, Cacao Ceremony and Kirtan
with Billie and Sivani Mata
Saturday 28 September 2019 | 10:00 – 19:00
in the English Countryside on the border
of Gloucestershire and Wiltshire near Swindon
You are invited to join Billie and Sivani Mata for a nourishing day in the English countryside. This is and opportunity to come together and nourish ourselves through heart-centred practice, as well as set intentions on the Autumn Equinox new moon for the months ahead as we move towards winter
We will begin the day with a practice of classic yoga, exploring movement and breath work that help drop us into our human experience and reconnect with who we really are beyond the mundane tasks of day to day life. Mudras and pranayama will be employed to help realign our energy as well as asana and meditation to bring us down into our body so that we can come out of thought and into feeling.
We will then journey with the ancient sacred medicine that is Cacao. Used in ceremony She invites us to commune deep with our hearts, welcome in clarity, let go of negative emotions and align with truth. Having set intentions together at the beginning of the day in our circle, we will bring these to the cacao, which having drunk the invitation is to lie down and journey into a liminal space where we can be open to the guidance of the heart.
Cacao (chocolate in it's pure form) is a plant medicine from Central and South America. The cacao we will be drinking is raw, organic, non-GMO, ceremonial grade cacao from Asháninka tribes of the Peruvian Amazon, this cacao has been lovingly grown and fairly traded every step of the way. Cacao contains the active ingredient Theobromine which translates as "food of the gods" and was used by native peoples in communion with the divine. Cacao also has numerous health benefits and contains antioxidants, iron, magnesium, copper and zinc, as well as Anandamide ("the bliss molecule") which the body produces when in love and gives the sensation of a natural high.
After the ceremony we will enjoy a delicious lunch together and then have time to explore nature with a country walk followed by another short asana practice specifically sequenced for opening the vishuddaha (throat) chakra.
We will close the day with Kirtan, the song of the heart. In this practice we sing the profoundly healing sounds of Sanskrit mantra, effortlessly dropping our awareness out of our busy minds and into our hearts. Kirtan is from the path of Bhakti Yoga (pure love and compassion) and responds to where you are it and what you need in that moment, whether that is to bring you to a space of calm or elation. It can be deeply moving and incredibly joyful.
Investment: £60 for the day including lunch – to book contact Billie on firstname.lastname@example.org
